Shenandoah County is the stretch of the valley between Front Royal and Harrisonburg, with I-81 and the North Fork of the Shenandoah winding through it and the long ridge of Massanutten Mountain on its eastern side. Strasburg and Woodstock are the main towns, Mount Jackson and New Market lie farther south, and up in the mountains to the west, Basye is home to Bryce Resort's ski slopes and the cabins around them.
