Real twilight or virtual?
Real twilight is shot on site in the short window after sunset, when the sky is still blue and the lights inside are glowing. Nothing beats it for luxury homes, homes with landscape lighting, pools and anything with big windows. It means a second trip at dusk, which is why it costs more.
Virtual twilight starts with a daytime exterior. An editor swaps in a dusk sky and warms up the windows. It's quick, works for almost any home and fits any budget. It looks best on homes with lots of front windows.

- Turn on every interior light, including closets and bathrooms that face the front.
- Turn on porch lights, landscape lights and pool lights.
- Open the blinds on the front windows.
- Light the fireplace if it can be seen through a window.
- Move cars off the driveway and the street in front.

When do you shoot real twilights?
Right after sunset, so the time changes through the year. We book the slot around that day's sunset.
Is virtual twilight allowed on the MLS?
Virtual twilight changes the sky and lighting, not the home itself. Many agents still note it in the remarks. Check your MLS's rules on edited photos.
What if it's cloudy?
A light overcast often still works, and the warm windows carry the photo. If the weather turns bad, we'll reach out before the shoot to move the dusk slot.
When do I get twilight photos?
Virtual twilights come with your edited photos, within 24 hours of the shoot. Real twilight photos follow the dusk session on the same timeline.
Does a home need landscape lighting for twilight?
No. The interior lights carry most of the glow. Porch lights and a few lamps near the front windows help a lot.
