Drone pilot jobs for Part 107 pilots.

Aerials sell lots, rooflines and neighborhoods. KONAH sends drone gigs only to pilots whose FAA Part 107 certificate we've verified, and every address is checked against the airspace around DC when the client books, so the authorization a flight needs is known before the gig is posted.

What you'll fly.

Aerial stills of the home, lot and neighborhood (usually 6 to 10 per shoot), short drone video clips, community flyovers for builders and site aerials for commercial listings. Most drone gigs pair with ground photos, so you're often shooting both on one visit.

Airspace, sorted before you fly.

Drone work is available everywhere KONAH shoots. What changes from one address to the next is the authorization. Every address goes through KONAH's airspace check when the client books. It looks at the DC Flight Restricted Zone (15 miles around Reagan National), the Reagan, Dulles and BWI Class B areas, Quantico, Manassas Regional, Stafford Regional and Andrews. Near airports and bases, the pilot gets LAANC authorization before the flight. Inside the DC restricted zone, the pilot files the FAA/TSA authorization before the flight. On the day, you still run B4UFLY yourself and make the weather call.

Requirements.

  • A current FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate. Enter the number when you apply; KONAH verifies it before you see a single drone gig.
  • A DJI Mini 3 Pro class drone or better.
  • Everything on the photographer gear list, since most drone gigs include photos.
  • Drone liability insurance is strongly recommended. You're responsible for safe, legal flights.

How KONAH gigs work.

  1. Apply with your gear and a portfolio or Instagram. Maahir reviews every application himself.
  2. If it's a fit, you complete a background check through our screening provider. You pay the screening fee (currently $30) yourself on Stripe, and your SSN and date of birth go to the provider, never to KONAH.
  3. You sign the Independent Contractor Agreement in the portal.
  4. You tick the service zones you cover, and new gigs that match your skills arrive by email and in your portal.

Each gig shows the city, ZIP, date, package and your rate before you accept. The street address, lockbox and client contact unlock once it's yours. First to accept gets it. Preferred KONAH Creators, a status KONAH gives to reliable regulars, see new gigs 30 minutes before everyone else.

On the day you tap On my way, Arrived and Done shooting, then upload every raw file within 12 hours and tap Upload complete. KONAH's editors take it from there and deliver to the client. Releasing a gig inside 24 hours of the shoot counts as a strike, late uploads count against you, and 3 strikes in 90 days pauses your account.

Pay details are shared privately once you're approved: in your contractor agreement, and on every gig before you accept it.

Questions, answered.

Can I apply without a Part 107?

Yes, as a photographer or videographer. Leave drone unchecked and add it once you're certified; drone gigs only go to verified pilots.

What if the address is inside the DC restricted zone?

Drone work still happens there. The booking check flags the address, and the pilot files the FAA/TSA authorization before the flight.

Who handles LAANC?

You do. Near airports and bases you get LAANC authorization before the flight, and on the day you run B4UFLY and make the weather call. KONAH's address check happens earlier, at booking.

How does pay work?

Pay details are shared privately once you're approved: in your contractor agreement, and on every gig before you accept it.
